AdminHistoryJohn Varley (Iron Founders) Limited founded in 1837, was situated in Atlas Street, St.Helens and was also known as Waterloo Foundry. It was a family business which spanned six generations and their castings grace many major conservation projects.
At one time the firm supplied Liverpool Corporation with cast iron drain covers. 'Worrall's directory' of 1876 describes the firm of 'John Varley and Company, Waterloo Foundry' as being 'brass and iron founders, millwright and engineers'.
The foundry closed in 1990.
