| AdminHistory | The collection contains records of the organisation known as the Friends of St.Helens Museum which was established in 19- to "further the education of the public by the promotion, support and assistance and improvement of the museum services administered by the St.Helens Metropolitan Borough Council". During this period the Friends met at the St.Helens Museum situated in College Street. The group disbanded in the year 2000 when the Municipal Museum ceased to exist. A large number of the artefacts were transferred to The World of Glass. This latter museum came under the auspices of a private trust, rather than St.Helens Metropolitan Borough Council. However the collections were still owned by the local authority. |
