AdminHistory | The business of Crone and Taylor was established in 1886 in Sutton Oak, St.Helens, Lancashire. They became incorporated in 1910 and were listed as manufacturers and dealers of products including animal feedstuffs, fertilisers, engineering equipment and brewing.
By the late 1950s the fertiliser part of the business was discontinued. The company was then known as Crone and Taylor (Engineering) Limited, specialists in the manufacture of mechanical handling equipment, particularly for the heavy end of industry, coal, coke and inorganic chemicals. The Worsley Group (G.P. Worsley and Company Limited) bought the ailing company in 1974 and gained business back from contracts with coal suppliers, I.C.I. and Pilkington PLC. The company ceased trading in 1983. |
