| Notes | St.Helens funded the destroyer warship H.M.S. Myrmidon as the result of Warships Week National Savings campaign held during 1942. Myrmidon was handed over to the Polish Navy and renamed O.R.P. Orkam. A year later in 1943, St.Helens Borough Council and the Women's Voluntary Service presented the Senior Commander of the ship with a plaque and a selection of musical instruments for the ship's orchestra to commemorate the friendship between both countries. |
