AdminHistoryBazaars were held by many different organisations such as churches, schools, political parties and hospitals. The object of each event was to raise funds for a new building, extension or improvement. Generally bazaars took the form of concerts and musical activities held over one or several days. They included indoor fairs comprising stalls devoted to fancy goods, smoking requisites or general provisions.

Bazaars were usually opened by a local personage of note while their organising committees often included many of the local dignitaries. The programmes themselves were usually well illustrated with advertisements of local businesses. Often the programmes contained a brief history of the establishment for which the funds were destined and sometimes contained photographs of those associated with the event.
